Holly's Story

From within, we hear teen stories of lasting impact–stories like Holly’s.

Thoughts of suicide, anxious thoughts, and treatment for mental health, emotional, or behavioral problems are struggles many teens encounter. Many of our teens are in need of safe spaces and an opportunity to be guided through life’s challenges.

Holly is a teen who has struggled with mental health her entire life. Her hope for her future is to “have stable mental health without having to have therapy.” She shared how TreeHouse has made a lasting impact on her and the impact she wants to make in return. “I want to help others with their mental health while maintaining my own mental health.”

Coming from a family who all struggle with depression, Holly has found it difficult to connect in healthy ways with her sisters and mom. She is thankful for TreeHouse and the staff’s encouragement to find ways of connecting and resolving their conflicts.

While hope and joy may be difficult for Holly to find in everyday life, she enjoyed sharing her favorite memory of TreeHouse, saying, “While I was attending TreeHouse, we stopped at a gas station. Left unattended, my friends and I decided to try to scare the van driver when he returned. It didn’t work as we had planned, but it was really funny.”

Hope, joy, and laughter are what Holly craves. She’s finding all of them at TreeHouse.

TreeHouse offers safe spaces for teens to break out of cycles of depression, hopelessness, and unstable home lives. Trusted adults work with teens to talk through their feelings and work toward goals for the future.
